How do I become Wealthy

Lori Vella

I just want to take a minute and share with you this amazing post from my good friend and one of our leaders Lori Vella. She is a former Attorney who was unfulfilled with her career even though it made a good income right out of school.  She fell in love with Insanity one of Beachbody’s earlier programs and began to enjoy sharing the program with other people.  She started a a coach and called her team the Insanity Survivors.  Just this past Beachbody payday which is every Thursday she had her first $1,000 week with Beachbody which is a huge goal she has been working toward. The important part about this post is what she writes about How do I become wealthy and what does wealth REALLY MEAN.

how-do-i-become-wealthy“I made $1,000 this week.

It took me a long time to find the right words to share this with you. But I wanted to share. First, I had to figure out what it meant to me. Like deep down, what it really meant.

One thousand dollars is and isn’t a lot. It is all perspective.

In of itself, it doesn’t seem like much to me. Heck, I made that amount in my first job DURING law school. Looking back though…I hated that job…always showed up late…found the work uninteresting and unappealing. But I got bit by the “bug.” And I set out to get MORE. And that’s what drove me. I wanted to be wealthy!

But at the same time, this $1k IS a lot to me now. Over the past year, my concept of money has changed. I have felt differently than I ever have…I felt the lack of abundance, the fear over bills, but also the true disappointment in being unable to do things I wanted to do. Sometimes I felt like a failure because I “couldn’t” achieve or do more with this little “side biz” to my full-time job of raising my son.

I did NOT want what I used to have by any means. So I had to change my thinking to keep up with the changes I was facing. I turned 40. I left a job I had for over a decade. I had a baby. And I dug deep into development books to learn what I really wanted in the second part of my life. I had to ask myself some questions.

What I realized is that wealth does not mean money.

While I worked hard to achieve this $1k goal I had set, it doesn’t make me wealthy or on the path to being wealthy.

Wealth is:
*That I am in a position to help someone every, single day. Every day. The “thank you” messages. Hugs around my neck. Notes to me saying “You are awesome!” Those feed me. Those keep me going. And knowing there is no ceiling there. No limit. I know that my income is directly related to how many people I love and care about. I live for that feeling of changing someone else’s outlook and making them see the bright side of things. Earning money and feeling satisfied? WOW, what an unreal and strange concept! And, by doing this, I will be able to help those less fortunate some day in our country and around the world. That’s my motivation. My big dream and goal.

Wealth is:
*Being home with Gianni. It is PB&J’s, meeting our new friends at the local bagel place for breakfast, cookie grins, spilled cereal, hide-n-seek, walking him down the street with Fozzie, talking to the neighbors. And with him at my feet.…on my lap during video calls… dancing around with me while I work out… laughing as we blast motivational audios throughout the house….and me bolting for the computer when he sleeps to talk to others about getting healthy. I am seeing him and that is what I want. But what’s more, he is growing up with a huge dose of positivity, will power, self-discipline and belief in himself. Because that is what I now live and breathe every day. I needed to change. And each day I’m a step closer to being the parent I want to be for him.

Wealth is:
*Knowing I had the “cajones” to walk away from my conventional, SAFE world. That I could pick up something that I knew nothing about…and begin to master it. Begin to teach others how to do it. Building something up, from the ground floor. And I inch towards my dream of being able to work from anywhere in the world. Knowing it is “achievable,” is mind-blowing to me.

I’ve come a long way from the person who was at first embarrassed to say what I now do. But I’ve realized I can change those misconceptions (once MY own misconceptions too) one person at a time through my own diligence, excellence in coaching and customer service, and giving back to others.

“Service is the very purpose of life. It is the rent we pay for living on the planet.”

To anyone still reading, fight for your dreams. Don’t give up and don’t listen to naysayers. I’m not there yet with proving them all wrong…but I’m gonna be there! This is the first benchmark. The best is yet to come. I’m so thankful for my superb team and my loyal clients.

Meanwhile, I’m gonna get on the kitchen floor and play some trains with the little guy. Cuz that makes me happy. And money could never buy this happiness. It is true wealth.
