Burned Out at Work
There is a SILENT KILLER that is stalking America, and I know it was hitting me hard just a few years ago. I was actually being hit by both of these which I will share below. I was working 12 hours a day and taking on responsibilities of the work for 3 people. You do more than expected and what usually happens? You get a bigger work load right? More is expected of you. How many of you can relate to that? Okay…. good….. If that is YOU please keep on reading.
(That is what happens when you are a WORKER, When you are a GO-GETTER like me. I am so grateful that I had a job to support my family but I knew there was something out there bigger for me. I had those moments where I would sit there and say to myself. “Am I really supposed to be here for the next 40 years? Sitting here in a chair like this? Am I really supposed to work THIS many hours a week without really being passionate about my work? Then I would tell myself, I have good insurance, I have a good 401K, this is a good company( which it really was) but is this REALLY for me? I will work as hard as I need to, to provide for my family. But working that much can burn you out and we will call that getting “burned out” I know so many people who are burned out like I was.
But………. there is something far worse than being burned out. It is called Rust Out and it is far more scary and deadly than burnout. Burning out can wear down your body, but rusting out can wipe out your soul and your spirit.
Authors Richard Leider and Steve Buchhoz share this below,
“Rust out is the slow death that follows when we stop making the choices that keep life alive. It’s the feeling of numbness that comes from always taking the safe way, never accepting new challenges, continually surrendering to the day-to-day routine. Rustout means we are no longer growing, but at best, are simply maintaining. It implies that we have traded the sensation of life for the security of a paycheck…. Rustout is the opposite of burnout. A Burnout is overdoing. Rustout is UNDERBEING.”
God gave us each individual talents and abilities that are each unique to every single one of us. I’m looking for self driven, hard working people. I have a vision of continuing to create and build a team of hard-working individuals who want to be continue growing as a person, to work toward a common purpose, to be surrounded by positive like-minded people, to be in the best shape of their lives, to be recognized properly for their hard work ethic, and to to be ALIVE and full of purpose for the rest of their lives.
