This was our first together transformation photo of about a year. We set a goal to save money to go on the cheapest cruise we could and we wanted to look and feel good by the time we went.
It was few weeks after my 3rd daughters birth when I was sitting in my cubicle at work as a Technical Writer. As I was sitting there scared, I logged onto Facebook on my break and saw a couple of THOUSAND people posting pictures about a “free trip”.
They were on a cruise ship on something called a Success Club trip. I don’t even know where they were cruising to but I had what felt like a thousand feelings beginning to overwhelm me.
I was mad that I was at work while they were on vacation. I was mad that I was TOO SCARED to become a coach 9 months earlier when I completed P90X and talked to my coach about it. I was jealous that they were playing and I was working. I didn’t know how to pay the doctor bills from Ellie’s birth. I was again mad at myself that they were doing what I loved but that they had overcome the fear and I had not. You see I had always told my coach Lindsay that I couldn’t “afford” to be a coach and pay the $15.95 a month coach fee. I was afraid to commit to using Shakeology every single day as I didn’t know how to pay the current bills. But those were cover stories. Those were excuses that I fabricated to easily tell her no “that is not for me I’ll just help people without being an official coach.” What was really happening inside of me, FEAR of the unknown and fear of failing at another thing in life. April 11th 2011 the fear of not knowing how to fully provide for my new growing family became greater than my fear of failure. I called Lindsay and signed up as a Beachbody coach that day.
I started digging into my new Coach office and training I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had no idea what being a coach was or its potential other than helping some people, making a 25% commission by sharing products and that I could earn a free trip for my family. I asked My coach how I can go on the next free Success Club trip which was ATLANTIS in March of 2012 and she told me I needed to hit Success Club 10 ( help 5 people monthly) for the next 9 months. So without knowing how that would be possible, being an introvert, having only 224 Facebook friends I went to work with a CLEAR concise goal. EARN THAT TRIP in 9 months and make enough money with Beachbody in the next 12 months to retire my wife from her full-time job so that she could be a stay at home mom and so I could see her more than 1-2 times a week. I put a stock picture up of Atlantis as my screen saver and I went to work with pure faith that God would help direct me as long as I was willing to put in the work with 100% unwavering faith in the end destination. I still look back to that first year and wonder how? But the real reason to how was because I knew WHY
