How to Achieve Goals
(A little BIBLE inspiration)
We all want to know how to achieve goals. We all want something bigger and greater out of our lives until we have to start working or as you’ll here in this message from me tonight ( Digging) . Have you heard the story about when God delivers Moab to his people? So ELISHA the prophet tells the kings that water will flow from Edom by tomorrow morning. Their armies and their animals will no longer be thirsty. Their prayers will be answered.
But here is the thing. Elisha tells the King that they must take action: “Make the valley full of ditches”
So most people including the King would say, why would we build a ditch when there is no water or rain in the forecast?
You see this is how FAITH works. I tell people all the time that say they have a good job that YOU NEVER KNOW when your company will make a cut, when you could get laid off, or if you got injured, if your family will incur heavy medical expenses. I call this, as Tony Robbins says, putting yourself 5 feet from the edge of Niagara Falls in your mind.
When God gives you a sign or an answer, the only way to act is in FAITH. The King wanted this answer but instead from Elisha he got a WORK ORDER. Get your men, pick up a shovel and start digging. It would of been NICE right? If they could of just woke up to abundance thinking Hydration and water based positive thoughts. Maybe some visualization exercises to see the water coming abundantly in the future and then BOOM. WATER and they are saved. This is not how God operates at ALL.
God works in a way, such as, if you REALLY believe that I can bring you the promise, show me you believe by Faith. Do your part and I will be faithful to giving you the promises.
That night, if you know the story. The ENTIRE NATION pitched in and dug all night long. The next morning the water arrived and the ditches were filled with water. The armies and animals were refreshed and they were able to overtake the Moabites.
ONLY GOD CAN SEND THE RAIN. BUT HE EXPECTS YOU TO DIG THE DITCHES.
Like I mentioned at the top of this message, We all want something greater in our life until we have to start DIGGING.
I mean picture the WORK. Pitch dark, HARD dirt, nothing but a few words from a preacher. God expects us to grab the shovel and this does NOT mean we have to do all the work. GOD will bring the rain and our job is to shovel the ditches.
It was a MAJOR sacrifice for the people and the army to stay up all night digging those ditches all over the valley but is it REALLY a sacrifice when God is asking you to do it in order to bring you more abundance in life?
Here are the questions I want to ask you.
1.) Do you have enough FAITH to dig a ditch even if you can’t SEE any wind or rain?
It can be a LONELY challenge at times, with nobody supporting you or telling you that you are doing the right thing.
2.) What small steps and practices are you being asked to do? ( psssst… If your a coach it’s the 4 Vital Behaviors)
Remember that you can’t expect God to entrust you with a big dream or goal if you aren’t willing to take the actions.
I want you each to think about your daily actions as DITCHES. If you really believe that God is abundant and wants to bless your life, we need to be digging ALL KINDS OF DITCHES. Realize that when the rain COMES in the future you have to have done the work prior like these guys did throughout the night
We can DIG our ditches with EVERY means possible. Your words, prayers, expectations, thoughts, relationships, and DAILY actions.
