How to Overcome the Past
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE!
Every single one of us has had failures and disappointments that have happened in our lives. So how do we overcome the past and move on to our greater purpose? I have had some BIG ones, some embarrassing ones, and some that you wish you would have never experienced. Remember that we all have these. I was talking with a friend of mine once about how there were parts of my story that I left out because I was so embarrassed about them and how people would judge me or judge those around me or even judge my religious beliefs. One of my mentors taught me this and I want to share it with you.
The next time that you are in your car, notice that there’s a big windshield in the front and a small rear view mirror. The reason that that windshield is so BIG and the rear view mirror is so small is that what’s happened in the past is not nearly as important as what is in your future. Where you are going is a lot more important than where you’ve been.
So as you move forward into TOMORROW, next week, and the rest of your life. Every time you begin to feel like you are inadequate because of your past, or “not good enough” because of this or that. Or feel you have made a mistake that can’t be turned around. I want you to get in a car and look at that front window and realize THAT is where your focus needs to be. Don’t dwell on the past. Look to the future and where you want to go and adjust your focus on your long-term goals, correcting your daily behaviors to keep you on the path outside of your front windshield.
