There are some big things I need to get accomplished in my business right now but there’s also only one week left for these kids on their summer break. Each week we’ve spent an insane amount of time hanging out, kayaking, playing games, and doing cabin trips.
I’m a husband, a Dad of 5 kids, a friend, a son, a primary teacher, an activity day leader, a public speaker, and a full-time BODi partner/Mentor to thousands of people across the country, and building 2 homes.
You might wonder HOW CAN I MANAGE building a business and also have a good relationship or family at the same time?
It comes to managing your focus in life. If you can understand and clearly identify your priorities in life you will be able to set down your cellphone or close your laptop and stop checking emails, notifications, and texts at all hours of the night and day so that your family time can go uninterrupted.
How many of you checked your phone this morning before you did your morning prayers or your personal development?
How about before you kissed your spouse or hugged your children?
It’s important that you decide now what your standards are up front as you start to build a business. Sure there were times that PRECIOUS family time was sacrificed but we made sure to set apart specific FAMILY/SPOUSE time even if it was just once a week or for a 2 hour block of time with Gabby or the 3 hours I had with my kids from getting home at 5:00 until I put them to bed at 8:00.
As your business begins to grow, you can always choose new standards as you gain the ability to buy back your time.
Most people are capable of making a living. That’s the safe thing. The significant thing is making a difference. The great men and women of history were not great because of what they earned or owned, but rather for what they gave their lives to accomplish.
