For every picture you see there is a story behind it. I want to tell you about the person to the left first. This was me close to 3 years ago.
You see growing up I’ve always been skinny. As a matter of fact my mother nicknamed “el flaco” which meant skinny in Spanish. That was her sweet nickname to call me.
Growing up in a Mexican/Hondurian family following a healthy diet was not really what we practiced. My parents unfortunately didnt know better because they both grew up with humble families and they ate what they could afford.
We would eat tacos, burritos, McDonald’s, burger king, tortas, fast food restaurants. That was our typical daily food of what we ate. I was skinny up until college. In my college years I finally started to gain weight but in the wrong places.
If it was hot outside I would wear tanktops or cut off sleeves but I never took my shirt off. I was self conscious about how i looked. I wanted to do something about my health and my body. You see diabetes runs in my family and so does high blood pressure, high cholesterol.
In my early 30s there were two major things that happened with me where I said enough is enough! I would work sometimes up to 11 hr days shifts on my feet and I didn’t have the energy like I use to when I was a teenager.
We decided to have kids and I couldn’t even play with them because I was exhausted by the time I came home. I would even get angry at my kids and told them I was to tired to just leave me alone.
When I went to the dr to get my physical the dr told me I was borderline diabetic and due to my family history of all health issues I would soon be there too. I didn’t want to go to the gym because my mindset at the time was that I felt as if people were going to make fun of me.
Ok if you’ve gotten this far I thank you because I know it’s long so let me flash forward now. I was sitting at home one night and found p90x on those infomercials and I saw the results people were getting working out at home. I finally decided this is it. I ordered the program and got a great coach to help me. I lost 20lbs and for the first time I looked great! However, I didn’t follow the nutrition plan exactly so I skinny fit.
Then my wife and I decided to have our second child and the late nights, going to work, feeling exhausted, going back to eating unhealthy I went back to my old habits and gained it all back. I decided to go online one more time to see what’s out there. I cameras across a YouTube video Scottie Hobbs and I saw what amazing results he was getting from the workouts and he was sharing his life with the world too.
I decided to reach out to him because I loved what he was doing and I too wanted to become a coach. We talked on the phone for about 15 minutes and about goals, life and what I can do to also help people.
I gave p90x3 a try and this time did it 100% and once again got some great results! I lost a total of 25lbs in 3 months and I looked and feeled like a teenager again! I decided why not submit my results to the challenge day winner of beachbody. Who knows right? Low and behold I got the email telling me I was chosen as a daily beachbody challenge day winner and I was getting $500.00 for my story and transformation. I broke down into tears because I had never really won anything for myself. I called scottie very late in that night because I couldn’t help but to share the feeling.
I helped people even without being in my goal weight, I inspired hundreds, I finally felt alive! I felt as if I mattered. So there you have it ladies and gentlemen.
I became a coach to inspire and help those people who also had a challenge with their health and fitness goals. I’ve met some amazing people that now I call family. We help each other through thick and thin. We set goals, we push each other to our fullest potential but most importantly we’re on a mission to pay it forward.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read it. Tomorrow begins our health spring challenge. I want to help you!!!! Like my post and or pm message me.
