Truth about Abs
This picture is me. These are my abs and yes they were made here in my home doing only Beachbody workouts and using clean eating principles jointly with Shakeology. But do you want to know the truth about abs and something that I think most people don’t understand and realize? It’s the thing that may keep many people from staying in shape and generally healthy overall. High expectations on what abs are supposed to look like on a day to day basis. I have to be honest with you. Many people that you see on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook do not walk around looking like the picture above or the picture that they put up, including myself. Yes, that would be pretty awesome but it’s not the reality. This picture was taken in a studio with very good lighting and positioning. Yes I was in shape and working hard to be ready for the shoot but this is not what I look like on a day to day basis. I am sharing this with you because many people try and try and try to get abs like somebody else that they have found as their inspiration. When they “can’t get there” it gets discouraging. I did this with the actor from the movie “Never Back Down”. It made me challenge myself to push harder everyday and to be a reminder of what I was working for but I could just never look the same as he did, especially when his job was to workout and look good for a movie. As a Dad of 4 kids, 3-4 hours in the gym and a $1000 a month for a nutritionist just doesn’t fit the priority list. So I did what many busy parets do. Workout from home with the Beachbody workouts. In just 90 days with P90X I went from 187lbs down to 145lbs and had abs for the first time in my life. I literally ate only chicken, tuna, talapia, and broccoli, and carrots for 90 days. Honestly its not a something that I would be able to maintain so I had to find more variety. For the past 3 years I have just been consistent in eating healthy and staying active every single day without depriving my body of the nutrients that it needs to function properly. The abs aren’t sticking out like you see on all of these pictures but I feel good enough to play with my kids, run around the yard with them, and feel good about myself and what I’ve accomplished. This is the truth about abs as I share with you. You don’t have to have shredded abs. Work on being overall healthy and making a lifestyle change that will last for the rest of your life. I’m here by your side.
This is me today- Feeling healthy and alive.
