Isn’t this a beautiful shot by IG @karenreddphotography? She’s so fun and easy to work with while doing our team pictures. She even went out of her way to spend 30 minutes teaching my daughter some techniques. I want to tell you a story. Gabby worked every night shift at the Hilton Garden Inn here in Idaho Falls and I worked a 12 hour day shift. We were only home together 1, sometimes 2 times a week. We lived that life for five years. Kina, Mila, and I would pop in to visit her at the hotel every night and get a Chocolate Chip cookie from the front desk and say hi to mama. We made it work.
Today as I was thinking back on those days, I remember a slogan that I used to see on the front desk. It said: “Catch Someone doing the Right Thing!” It got me thinking this morning. How often do we only “Catch” somebody doing the WRONG thing or something we don’t like? Especially with our spouse or kids?
We do this not because they never do the right thing things but because we are naturally more likely to speak out and speak up when something isn’t the way that we like it to be. We expect everything to go right in our lives but by doing this, we take for GRANTED when our spouse, children, or co-workers do the right thing. I want you to think back just for a moment to when somebody in your life caught you doing something right. How did it make YOU feel?
On the other hand, when did YOU catch somebody doing something good and praised them for the efforts that they are making? If you want to make a difference and positive impact in people’s lives, remember that EVERYBODY needs a little encouragement. Everybody. When we give people praise, we ENERGIZE them and we feel better ourselves. Cool how that works right? My challenge today is to reach out and help ENERGIZE those people that matter MOST in your lives today. I’m grateful to be a full-time dad and spouse and to work part-time as a Team Beachbody Coach. I’m grateful to be a part of a community where we are constantly uplifting each other and shining a light on the potential of each human on our team. My friend if you’re reading this and you’re not a part of our team, there is room for YOU.
